The Bramble is a modern British cocktail created in the 1980s by legendary bartender Dick Bradsell at Fred’s Club in London. Inspired by Bradsell’s childhood memories of picking blackberries, he combined gin, fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup and blackberry liqueur to create a drink that was both refreshing and visually striking. The cocktail became known for its crushed-ice presentation and the blackberry liqueur “brambled” over the top, giving it its distinctive appearance and name.
Here’s how we did it:
Bramble
50ml Gin, Aber Falls Welsh Dry Gin

Fresh Blackberry and lime slice
Wet shake all ingredients expect the blackberry liqueur.

Fill with crushed ice.
Garnish with a blackberry and lemon slice
Finish by pouring the 15ml blackberry liqueur over the crushed ice.
